How to Stop Play head for few seconds and then play it automatically in After Effects?

Use the Time Remapping controls.  To activate, go to Layer > Time > Enable Time Remapping.

If it's the whole comp, nest your comp in another one and then use Time Remapping.

You can use the Time Remapping feature in After Effects to pause the play head for a few seconds and then resume playing automatically.

Here are the steps to do so:

  1. Move the play head to the point where you want to pause the video.
  2. Right-click on the layer and select "Time" > "Enable Time Remapping".
  3. A keyframe will be added to the beginning of the layer, indicating the start time.
  4. Move the play head a few seconds forward from the start time and add another keyframe by clicking on the stopwatch icon next to "Time Remap" in the layer properties.
  5. Move the play head a few more seconds forward from the second keyframe and add another keyframe.
  6. Now move the play head to the second keyframe and change its value to match the first keyframe's value. This will create a pause in the video for the duration between the second and third keyframes.
  7. Finally, move the play head to the third keyframe and drag it to the end of the layer to resume playing.

Your video should now pause for a few seconds and then continue playing automatically.
