Unable to open after effects 2018 after updating my macbook

Question

I recently downloaded the most recent software update from Apple - Mac OS Big Sur version 11.4 - onto my macbook pro. After doing so, I tried opening After Effects CC 2018, but was unable to. This is the pop-up that appeared:

I'm assuming this issue is due to me having updated to Mac Big Sur. I've tried installing an older software update (Catalina) as AE could run on that version, but was unable to do that because the installer for Catalina wasn't compatible with Big Sur. What do I do now?

Update AE if you have not done so already. Try resetting your preferences by starting AE with Shift + Alt/Option + Ctrl/Cmnd held down. If none of that works there are instructions on the web for rolling back one version of IOS. I'm running Big Sur on 3 Macs right now with no real problems on any of them.
