Weird path looking line on anchor point in after effect

I'm trying to center the anchor point on the square shape. However, everytime I do that it creates this path-looking line and scaling the shape weirdly. Does anyone know what is going on?

Hi Eric,

Thanks for writing in.

It's the motion path that you're using. It shows the movement of an object.

You have the Position stopwatch enabled so when you move the Anchor point, you're actually animating its position. If you want to adjust the Anchor Point, you should disable the Position stopwatch first.

Note: Disabling the stopwatch will remove all the animation keys.

Let us know if it helps.

Thanks,

Nishu
