Advanced Action on Text Entry Box

I made some extensive advanced actions and attached to a text entry box - actually a set of 5 text entry boxes. After 5-6 hours of adjusting I got it to work in regular “preview from this slide”, but as soon as I try HTML5 or publish as such and put into my LMS nothing happens. I hit the submit button and none of the actions occur.

Thoughts? Suggestions? I’m devastated after spending so much time building this knowledge check for a project.

There are significant differences (more and more) between HTML and SWF output. If you would post a preview of the Advanced actions described above, there is some chance I could recognize if that is the case for you? I have several examples in older blog posts that do not work for HTML output.  For some of them I have workarounds.

I will post what I can - long story short I have a SME that had a large bank of words and wanted the user to type in 5 words and have it recognize it. I started with a custom build - discovered quickly it was going to be complicated. I tried to use a gaming template from e-Learning Brothers, but it had way too many bells and whistles for what I needed. Tried modifying it several times - gave up and went back to custom build.

My naming conventions are a little goofy because I was making adjustments as I went.

There are 5 text entry boxes, each one has a separate variable associated to it. They are on top of one another and once one is used, it is set to hide, so on so forth (2 are below so you get the idea). The review variable is how I track "duplicates" - on additional boxes and also how I have it set for incorrect feedback. If they miss 2 out of 3 answers, then they see a "review button" and that button takes them to the next screen to show correct ones in one color and the ones they missed in another.

This is the If/Else so if they get any of the answers or none of the answers:

I have it set to they get 5 attempts, but can only make 3 mistakes including providing duplicate answers

Again... this isn't all of it, just a snapshot to give an idea. If something stands out feel free to let me know.

I see that the thread is marked as being Answered, so no need for help anymore. Find the correct answer pretty weird....

Just FYI: HTML output is much less 'forgiving' for interactive objects stacked in the same location. Good luck!

Preview from this slide will not be a complete publish of all slides in your project.  My guess would be that something on one of the earlier slides might be throwing a spanner in the works.

Did you try doing a complete publish out of all slides locally first?  Did that show the same error?

I did do preview project and it works fine. the HTML5 and scorn cloud preview didn’t work. I will double check previous slides - I don’t think I reused variables, but I should check that.

If anyone else has suggestions keep them coming please!

Publish to SWF and upload to the LMS to see if that output works.  Perhaps the issue is related to a bug in HTML5 output.  If so, you should report it.
