I'm completely stumped on this one. Currently  when a user fails an option to retake the quiz appears. I want to add an option that will take them back to my "home screen" so they can review the content again. I tried making a button but clicking it doesn't produce any results. I'm have no clue where to go from here.

Make one of the interactive objects on your Home screen report to the quiz.  Then the Retake Quiz button on the Quiz Results slide will start the quiz from your Home Screen.

You should also be able to add a Smart Shape button to the Quiz Result slide, but you may have other quiz settings that are interfering with its ability to jump to a slide earlier than the quiz.  Bear in mind that just jumping to your Home Screen will not necessarily reset the quiz for another attempt.  The Retake Quiz button is best for that.

Do you want them to be able to retake the quiz after having reviewed the content? In that case you must remain in the Quiz Scope and Rod offered you the workaround to achieve that. All data about scored objects (including question slides) are to be found in the Advanced Interaction panel (F9 or from the Project menu).

As for shape buttons on score slide have a look at:

Since you were not able to use such a button to navigate to the Home screen, maybe the Quiz settings are preventing it? Do you have Pretest slides in the file and/or Branch aware checked?
