Animated Gif files in Captivate

Hello, I stumbled upon this thread when having issues myself with getting a gif to play in Captivate. I changed the frame delay on my animation in Photoshop to 0.2 as mentioned, however my gif still will not play in my Captivate project.

Could this be because I imported it into Photoshop as an .avi file and then converted it to a frame animation? I created the animation in After Effects. Do you have any advice on this?

Any help would be much appreciated! I would really like to add some movement to my project, thanks!

    Worth trying, isn't it?

To my amazement, exporting it as an .mp4 from AE, then saving it as a .GIF in Photoshop - WORKS! The only downside here is lack of a transparent background capability, but I can work around that. I didn't even convert the video to a frame animation in Photoshop. I'll try that too though and see if I get similar results.

I never would have thought to try that - thank you!

Just wanted to update for anyone who stumbles upon this thread - I've found out that even using the method described above, Captivate is very picky. Recently I tried importing a GIF which was giving me the "GIF file contains error" message and it wasn't until I changed the frame rate of the animation in After Effects from 29.97 to 30 that it ended up working in Captivate. So if you run into that issue, your frame rate of the original animation may have something to do with it.

I also have more problems having PS created animated GIF's to play in the recent versions of Captivate. Only very simple, layer-based animations seem to work well. I used a lot of tweened masks previously for animations but those do no longer play in Captivate. I suspect you AE animation resulted also in a too complicated animations. It has been quite a while since I used AE, but is not possible to export as an OAM, HTML5 animation?

Unfortunately AE does not export to OAM or HTML5 as far as I know. I thought maybe I could convert my .avi file to an .oam file using media encoder, but .oam file type was not an option.

I tried exporting the animation as a .png sequence and then saving it as a .gif in Photoshop as well, but that animation did not work in my Captivate project either.
