Applying multiple effects to an object in an Advanced Action / Flash Output

Hi there,

Played around a bit with applying effects through Advanced Actions. It seems that if an Advanced Action is set up to apply multiple effects to the same object, only the last effect in the sequence of commands executed in the advanced action (downmost / rightmost) would play when published to Flash. Is this expected or am I missing something here?

Doesn't seem to be a problem when publishing to HTML5.

This is very old, but except for the UI changes, custom effects still work the same way:

Editing Motion Paths and Reusing Customized Effects - Captivate blog

Three steps (even that has not changed yet):

    1. Create the stacked effects as Time-based effect. Look at this timeline
    2. Save the effect (there is a disk button now), delete the three stacked effects, then apply the custom effect (use the Browse button); this is necessary to have your custom effect show up when using the command Apply effect in advanced actions
    3. Use Apply Effect, and you'll see a new category 'Custom' from which you can choose the custom effect. I didn't test how changes in duration effect those stacked ones, sorry.

If I want multiple effects, I will always create a custom effect if it has to be applied by Advanced actions. Are you using Captivate 9? Did you use the Delay command?

    Captivate 9.
Yes, if the next effect is delayed long enough by the Delay Next Action command for the first one to play to the end, it works. If the delay is too short, the first effect gets cut off in the middle.

How would you create a custom effect that incorporates 2 or more of the standard ones; say "Motion Path" + "Scale" at the same time or something?
