Question

best object to use in the timeline for simulation actions that require hover,mouse-over or point?

Hello!

how do i develop this scenario?  i recorded a simulation in training mode.  In the live application, the user should point or hover or mouse over a particular object/item in the screen. When hovering the mouse, the button color changes and the list displays. - Therefore in the recorded simulation, there are 2 slides.

See screen below.

Slide 1  - which user needs to hover his mouse to "Help" to show the list.

Slide 2:  The Help list displays after hovering Help.

My problem is how this to develop in training mode?  My initial work around in the timeline for slide 1 is below, however there is no "actual" interaction from the user.  It goes to slide 2 without user really doing the mouse over action..... It just like a "cheat"

thank you

Did you capture in Training mode? This looks like Demo mode?

Its actually training mode. But for this slide 1  is - the actual action in the live environment is to mouse over 'help', thus only screenshot was recognized by captivate.

this is how the slide 2 looks like after slide 1 :

I was confused because normally there are no highlight boxes in Training mode. This must be customized.

Rollover is not an interactive object at all in Captivate. In Training mode, objects that are interactive and can be scored are added to simulate actions to be done by the user

    • click boxes (BTW you changed the length of that slide, this is not the original captured slide) if the user has to click on a certain location
    • Text Entry Boxes if he has to type in some text

There is not such an object for rollover. The only way that could perhaps simulate that would be to use a rollover slidelet and have something happen using the Rollover event of that slidelet. But that is never automatically embedded when you do the recording of a software simulation.
