Can't open character

Hi I can't open any characters in Captivate 7 or through my folder view. When I double click in Photo Viewer it says it does not support the file format. When I drop it into Photoshop it says "Could bit complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file." Tried going through File > Open. It also crashes my Captivate 7.

Maybe this is Cp8 only, but did you try to insert them using the Media button & select Character?

If that option isn't there, there must be something similar in Cp7.

The characters are specially formatted graphics files that seem to have some form of digital rights management applied.  They must be correctly installed in the right location on your system in order to work.  If you just copy them to a folder somewhere and attempt to browse to them from Captivate as if they were normal images, it won't work.  Furthermore, you cannot edit them in a graphics editor.

So were these characters installed with the original Captivate 7 install, or did they come later?

They were installed using a file called Cp7_win_assets_installer, after Captivate was installed.

OK.  Well that's the proper way to do it.

Try resetting your Preferences folder and clearing out your project cache.  If that makes no difference, you may need to reinstall Captivate AND the characters again.
