Can't stop video from autoplaying

I've had this issue for a few Captivate versions now -- still can't figure it out in Captivate 9. I'm placing a MP4 video on a slide. I have it set to play across three slides. That works fine. But, I cannot get it to STOP AUTOPLAYING when the slide appears. I've tried pausing everywhere I could find a pause action. I don't want to move it down the timeline -- I want it to show when the slide appears but not play -- because I'd like to have some text to explain the video before it just starts playing. I have a button that will start it playing. I could use a still of a frame and have it play on the next slide but that just seems silly to have to go through all of that.

What am I missing? It can't be this difficult to make it stop playing. UGH.

Thanks for any suggestions.

You're referring to Multi-Slide Synchronized Video?

This type of video is locked to the timeline. So unless you have something pause the timeline before the video begins (e.g. a click box or button) then the video will play as soon as its object enters the timeline.

If you want to have the option of the video NOT playing until the user clicks something, your original question indicates you know that starting the video on a different slide will work.  Or your other alternative is to use Event Video.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I did try putting "'pause" on a button in the first frame but then I had to move the video to the next frame (when they're both in the first frame the video will still play). That left a big blank area on the slide. I'm thinking I can put a screenshot in the first frame, and then replace it with the video in the second frame. Button will pause it, button to play it. This way I don't have to duplicate the whole slide. I *think* that will work. If not, I'll duplicate the slide. Either way, it'll do what I want it to do. Thanks again!
