Captivate 8 Publishing Problem: Special Characters

I am creating a tutorial series for Captivate for a client - I need to publish the current version so I can begin testing.

My folders all begin with my first name, followed by a period, and then my last name.  This is the format for our network.  I can publish locally, but then I will not be able to test my project on other PCs, and others will not be able to test my program.  Also - I am fairly certain that the folder structure of my client's is similiar: folder names will contain either a period, an underscore, or even both special characters.

Why - why - why - will Captivate not publish my project for me?  The, "Publish path has unsupported characters..." error continues to plague me.

If this is something Captivate simply will not allow, I am grounded.  It is not uncommon for people on networks to have periods or underscore characters in their folder titles - if this does not allow publishing to such folders, what can I do?

I swear (and I am just venting) every time I need to do something with this program, I feel I am stepping backwards 3 feet for every 1 step forward I make.

    Is there any chance...

Your on windows and your 'user ID' has a space in it?

I know some people have reported trouble in that situation.

No - no spaces. I just created a folder with no special characters and tried that, and got the same exact error message.  I'm going to shut it down and reopen and try again.

That worked - closing and then reopening.  So I can publish, but not anywhere where there are special characters.
