Captivate 8 Widgets don't work when published using html5

I have a project that is publishing ok to SWF only but when publishing to html5 the two widget pages simply load as blank white screens

Am using Win 7 pro and playing in Chrome

We need this to work in Chrome and ie but I have not tested ie.

Anyone with similar experience of this?

Have tried with adobe help but is not working still

It is definitely a problem with Chrome.  Even after enabling Flash in Chrome, Captivate 2017 HTML5 widgets will not show up, they are just blank pages as you described.  As soon as I do an "open with" and use Firefox, everything works great.  I expected more from Adobe.  I'm glad I just have a free trial.

Did you ever get this to work?? I am having the same issues. Created a project with widgets, but when publishing to html5 the widgets wont display.

Two suggestions:

  • Make sure the widgets are HTML5 compatible.  Some widgets that ship with Captivate are the older SWF ActionScript 3 type and are NOT going to be HTML5.  Most if not all of the ones you can add via the Learning Interactions button will be HTML5 compatible.  So did you make sure the widgets you are talking about were added that way, or were they added via a different method?
  • When testing functionality of widgets, you cannot get a good idea by just trying to play the content in a web browser from your hard drive.  You either need to upload the content to a web server and test from there, or you need to set up a full localhost web environment on your computer and test the content by launching it from within there.

Thanks Rod.

I have tested the training on an LMS and all widgets work, however I now have separate issue of my click boxes not working!

So this still doesn't work

the widget (learning interaction) is tabs - the top middle one

I made a simple 3 slide and put the widget in the middle slide put some small text on one tab

published to html5 (only) 'do you want to see the output?' = yes

The slide takes a few minutes to load and then is just blank white

I think it is broken at the other end

Hello,

The option that you mentioned e.g. ['do you want to see the output?' = yes ] will launch the published output directly from your machine. Please check after publishing to a web server.

Thanks,

Mohana

Tried that

It still doesnt work

widgets don't work with html - unless someone can prove other

Another issue that arises with publishing to html is that one of the videos (the CEO speaking) plays twice???

that is curious behaviour

very frustrating and the web team are putting my requests to the back now :-(

Create a small test project of just one or two slides.  Insert one widget that you've been having issues with on one of the slides. Then publish and upload that HTML5 output to a web server that is NOT within your corporate firewall.

I'm suggesting you do this so that you can simplify the issue down to a single widget where there is NOTHING else in the project that might be blocking it from working, and you are NOT being blocked by some issue within your own network.

If it turns out that you can get this project to work OUTSIDE your organization, then test it on the same web server used for your current project.  If it works OUTSIDE but does not work INSIDE your firewall, then you can tell your IT guys to get back on the case because you've just proved it MUST be something in their web server config.

Hi,

As Rod mentioned, please try publishing and viewing from a web server or LMS. You can also try the 'Preview in HTML5' (F11) option in Captivate.

Thanks,
Mohana

Are you testing this from your local hard drive or after uploading to a web server.  If not the latter, do that and see if the issue is still present.
