Captivate 9 Animations and Motion

Hello everyone,

I am new to Captivate 9 and would really love some help please. I have been asked to recreate the third slide from this link, Agar Corporation - Animation: Desalter .

When you open the link, click on the Desalter tab in the bottom left corner and go to the third slide. Can I use animations and motion in Captivate 9 to achieve this? How do I recreate this slide with all the motions and colors? Does anyone know how to do this or can point me to the Captivate 9 tutorials I need.

Thank you.

Deborah

I don't think the looping animation in the tubes has been done in Captivate, but suspect it to be an imported animation (either Flash or OAM).  The footer sliding up can be done with Effects in Captivate.

Ideally you would use Animate CC or another animation program or, now that I think about it further, even Photoshop would work well for this - just create an animated GIF that handles the "flow" in the pipes and then import that into Cp.

If you want to do it all in Cp, then it will be a bit time-consuming and not exact, but you can get pretty darn close using just Captivate.

In this very quick and dirty example project, I use a quick screenshot of your original project's slide and then just throw some smartshapes over the top "pipe" and animate them using a "Flicker" animation in Cp9. It's pretty close. Now you'd need to loop that for as long as needed, do the same for the rest.

    Hello tireduser:

Thank you so much! If I can I would like to do it all in Cp 9. I know I can how to do the simpler animations and motion paths in Cp 9 but am unaware of "Flicker" animation. Where could I find some good tutorials on the Flicker animation? When I open the sample project link I do see the screen shot but when I play the slide/project the animation does not seem to work. Am I doing something wrong?

    Thank you.

Flicker is in the Emphasis category, but it is a one-time effect, not looping.

    Hi Lilybiri,

You are right! After Affects can't render to OAM. But it can produce MP4's. So for small, self contained animations, I really like After Affects because its just cooler, but definitely a much higher learning curve!

    Cheers

Hi Steve, After Effects is cool, but more aimed at effects in video than at pure animations, hence the lack of exporting to OAM (which are smaller files!).  I like to use the most appropriate tool when possible, that is why i really regret that the development of Edge Animate has been stopped. For small animations it worked so much quicker than Animate CC.

I would agree this was either done in Flash (now Adobe Animate) or After Affects. The looping was probably created with a script in Animate or expression in After Effects.

Thank you Steve. I will look into Animate and After Affects.
