Creating Simulations of using the Captivate Program

Hi, I've been researching and hit a "virtual wall" here...

I'm a graduate assistant in Learning Design and I want to make a simulation in Captivate 9... but the app I want to record is Captivate... and I can't get it to "not hide" when I start the simulation recording.  What setting can I select or deselect so that I can record using Captivate?  Or is that not possible? I figure, I can take my own screen shots and add mouse effects on each slide... but I'd rather just work in real time and have the program add all that for me.

    My work flow is to open two instances of Captivate app, use the first to capture the second instance.

    If you want to open two instances of Captivate on the Mac, you'll want to duplicate the application file within the application folder.

    Launch the first application, then double click the 2nd.

    I haven't tried this with the duplicate of the same version, but I have been able to record the latest application with an earlier version on the Mac so I presume it should work.

    Hi, BD...   Thank you for the reply... I tried what you said initially... bc it made sense to just click open another instance.... but it just took me to the one I previously opened (when I double clicked the app from the Applications Folder).  So what I did was... I searched for how to open 2 instances of an app on a Mac and found a few helpful links.  They said to put in this "code" into the Terminal app:

    Here are the "notes" I made for reference incase it helps anyone else:

    To open a 2nd instance of an Application:  Type the following into the Terminal.

    EX:  open -n -a "APPLICATION NAME"

    open -n -a "Adobe Captivate"

    To find Terminal:  Go to Applications, Utilities and then select Terminal.

    I typed the code into the Terminal and 2 instances opened... I could use one CP app to record the simulation of using the other instance... and the tutorial came out great!  Thank you all so much!

    How do I open 2 versions of Captivate? ... I tried opening 2 files... but when I go to record with one, it minimizes the whole app and then if I click the app icon to bring it back up, it ends the recording... (PS... I'm on a Mac).

    I am on Windows. Is it so difficult on a Mac to have two instances open of the same application? I didn't talk about two files in one Captivate app, but about two instances of the application itself.  Why is Mac making everything so complicated?
