Default smart shape global configuration issue in Captivate 9

Hello,

I am using Adobe Captivate 9.0.1.320.  I am using it for corporate e-Learning and the organization recently purchased it for this specific purpose.

My issue:

I've created a quiz using Random Question slides. I am using Quiz Pools to generate questions for each slide

My design spec calls for a CORRECT and INCORRECT response to each question slide (the result of clicking SUBMIT button).

I would like to customize the CORRECT and INCORRECT response in the following ways:

  • colour of the box
  • text message inside the box
  • height and width of the box
  • placement of the box within the question slide

I would like these responses to be GLOBALLY APPLIED so that every random question slide would receive the feedback response in exactly the same way.

I discovered that by default, Captivate 9 creates the feedback responses in SMART SHAPE format  (the [Default Success Shape Style] AND [Default Failure Shape Style]).  I have no preference for these feedback responses being smart shape or text captions.

What I need is to be able to make these feedback responses consistent and global on all random question slides.  The ultimate purpose is to make this convention part of the theme and or style for my title.

I checked the forums and did not see a specific solution to this issue which prompts me to write this post in the Adobe Communities for Captivate.

Making these feedback responses part of the theme will save me development time -- I don't have to create individual responses for each and every question slide.

Please help if you are able.

Thanks!

Did you look in Quiz Preferences, Default labels? That is the place where you do change default labels in Quiz captions/shapes and on Quiz buttons. But you have to do it before adding Quiz slides. You should see the change immediately in the captions/shapes on the Quiz Master slides.

Hi,

Thanks for your collective input.

The biggest issue I have in this entire process is to change the default titles within the caption or shape consistent.  I want to change the current default text response from 'Correct.  Click anywhere on the slide or y to continue' to something else; something like 'You are correct. Click the slide to go on...'

The problem is regardless of what shape, position or colour of the caption, I am not able to change the title. I've tried going to File>Project Info and tried to change the caption titles there but something just isn't working.

Thanks!

Hi,

Thanks for the responses.

I think my problem is that I am trying to make these changes on PRE-EXISTING SLIDES and not setting up the default labels prior to adding content.

I will go ahead and make the changes as you recommend and put the new content slides in afterwards.

You can set the Object Style for Success and Failure captions and save this as part of a Custom Theme that can then be applied to all of your projects.

Look under Edit menu for Object Style Editor.

Common misunderstanding of themes. A theme has, besides the theme colors

palette which should be start, three components: object styles (use Object

Style Manager and choose the wanted default styles), master slides (be sure

to check the dedicated quiz master slides) and the skin. If you create a

complete custom theme to be used in combination with global preferences,

you are good to go.
