Question

Easiest way to make a grid in Captivate?

What is best practice for creating a grid of rectangles in Captivate? Mine aren't turning out as I expect. I need a simple 3 x 3 grid for very-large-font three letter words for reading practice.

I'm sure it's very obvious, but I'm blank after making some bad ones. Thank you so much.

How about one square shape for the outside edge and four lines (two horizontal and two vertical) to make up the grid in the middle?

That's what I hoped.

I'm hoping to create a type of chant of the words, left to right, like reading. One audio, but want the blocks to light up somehow (or change color when it's their turn) as the chant progresses.

Or do I need to separate each audio word?

Any advice on how to best do this, Rod? You are truly a gift! TY.

OK, that's different.  You had not mentioned that the boxes needed to light up as words are spoken in the audio voiceover.

For that requirement, the simplest solution is to have two shapes for each box.  One shape is the normal colour and the one occupying the same space is coloured to be lit up.  (If the shape has no fill colour, you could also use highlight boxes positioned behind the shapes to give the effect of the colour change.

You simply need to time the box or shape that gives the highlight so that it synchs up with the word being spoken in the voiceover.

This would not be difficult to achieve.
