We use Vimeo as our video streaming service. Captivate won't allow me to insert a video from our Vimeo site into a captivate file. Why not?

The most direct answer is that Captivate is limited in the file formats it supports for import.

If your video is already on vimeo why would try to insert it into Captivate?

This will require processing by Captivate and hosting space on your LMS, and cause you to experience bandwith limitation overages (Charges) based on the number of users taking the course each needing to download the video file from your LMS.

It's like you're wanting to give money away!

    SOLUTION:
    1) Create a button that links to the video using a Vimeo URL.

    2) Or build a slide with the webviewer interaction, set the duration to the length of the video file +25% and link to the video file on Vimeo.

Thanks, this is helpful, but it still doesn't work for me. That is apparently a problem with  the Mac version of Cap 9. It works for my colleague, who has Windows Cap 8. My tech guy did some research and tells me that Captivate is releasing a fix in the near future.

Of course I'm using the Windows version so maybe I'm missing something but for me it's all about using the embed code and the not the vimeo web address.

Here is a video I did some time ago that shows the process. Hopefully it helps you out.
