Interactive buttons on top of video not working

I am having issues with putting interactive buttons on top of a video and getting them to work on an Iphone.   Here's what I tried:

  • I placed 3 buttons on a video, to appear 41 seconds into the video.
  • The buttons are sitting above the video in the timeline order.
  • I did not use any advanced actions to render and use the buttons, the buttons are used to simply branch to a different slide depending on the answer of the learner.

I have it working fine on a Chrome browser, it works like a champ.  But when I try to play it on an Iphone, my custom buttons do not appear.   I have tried it with both smart shapes and buttons, neither works on the Iphone.  I tested on both IOS 10 and 11, but as yet have not tested a different type of phone.   Can anyone help with this?   Do I need to script advanced actions to pause the video or something along those lines?

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

My guess is the iPhone/iOS is putting the video 'on top' of everything else. This is often done to improve performance of the video playback (I think). You could test this by placing your buttons halfway on the video and half-off... I bet when you view on the iPhone, you;ll see half the buttons - the parts not covered by the video.

If that's the case, I doubt there's much you can do about it as it's likely an iOS thing, so then perhaps best to place the buttons on the side of the video.

May be worth research though to see if iOS does indeed make video top-layer always or if there's a way to defeat that

Thanks Erik I think you are probably right.  I will try Android and Samsung and see if I have better results.  I am using Captivate 2017.
