Issues previewing Responsive files in CP8

Is it possible to preview responsive files within the CP8 application in the same manner as you would with a non-responsive project?  Initially when I started working on a project and selected either Preview > from this slide" or Preview > next 5 slides I thought the application was using an internal preview mode.  Now it seems to access my browser directly, and with the security settings my company has on our browsers, often times nothing displays.  In order to preview a few slides in a project I have to "Publish" the file, then I have to go to the default "My Adobe Captivate Projects" folder to locate the index.html file and double click that in order to preview it, but then I have to preview the entire project.  Is there a work around within CP8 to avoid opening the browser everytime I want to previwe a few slides within a project?

    The only way to see a HTML preview (and responsive projects are always HTML, never Flash) is in the browser. What you are pointing at is the Flash preview, which created a temporary file and allowed to preview in a separate window. I always Preview in Browser, but also the From this slide, and Next x slides will work, only it will be in your default browser. You don't have to publish. If you have a CC subscription you can preview on devices using Edge Inspect to have an even closer experience to the final result without having to publish.

    Thanks for responding.  The issue is that sometimes it will preview in IE, sometimes it won't.  When it doesn't, I have to reach out for Tech support so that they can make some admin related adjustments.  The index.htm file that I open independently is an IE file in the "My Captivate Projects" folder (see image below).  In most cases this file will open, but I have to publish the entire file in order to preview it.

    I never publish until the end, but have full control over my system of course. I wonder if you run Captivate as Administrator, which is required to have its full functionality.
