Knowledge Check slides vs. Quiz slides - Navigation issue

Hi folks!

I need some help with knowledge check slides as I want the user to be able to go back to previous slides from knowledge checks (to recall the content of a chapter), but the users may not go back from final quiz slides! The final quiz has also no review option. When I go to the settings menu, the option "allow backward movement" apllies both to knowledge and to final quiz slides! Is there a way so seperate? Thanks!

You probably found my blog post about differences between KC and Quiz slides:

Knowledge Check Slides - tips - Captivate blog

Indeed, if you don't allow backwards movement that will apply to both type of slides. However you can force this on normal quiz slides: do not include the Back button on those slides. Have that final quiz at the end of the course, do not show the playbar for those quiz slides and force the learner to exit the course after the quiz.

Hi Lilybiri,

nice to hear from you again - and happy new year!

Yes, I´ve read your blog but unfortunately it gave me no clue to my question ;-) I must admit I forgot to mention that we tried to disable the playbar, but that lead to confusion around our learners as they found no audio/CC/TOC button. They thought the program crashed and reported it as a failure ...

A smart solution would be just to disable the play/forward/back buttons in the playbar, but leave the audio/CC/TOC buttons accessable :-) But I guess this is as impossible as my first whish ...

I thought maybe it´s possible to enable "allow backward movement" and use some kind af advanced action script to disbale it on the quiz slides - or vice versa. Any suggestion in this direction??

You cannot have two different settings in the same course for the playbar. One solution could be to have the final quiz in a separate file to be called from the main course. Another possibility is to take out the buttons of the playbar for the whole course, and to add custom buttons for Next/Back on the content master slides. Do not forget to take out the progress bar as well to avoid that learners do scrub it to navigate. Personally I rarely use a playbar at all, because it is confusing in any non-linear course, and as you can expect I do use branching a lot.
