Learning Interaction variables

I am trying to create a slide that has a multiple answer question and a multiple choice question on the same slide. I know I cannot do this with any of the default Quiz slides, but I am thinking there might be a way to make it happen with Learning Interactions. I've inserted a Radio button interaction and a Checkbox interaction on the slide, and I've added variables for each one. The answers to these interactions will decide where in the course the learner goes, so I want to be able to recall those variables later. However, they don't show up in the Variable editor window. Is there a way for me to assign the values of these variables and recall them later? If not, is there a way for me to have two questions on one slide without having to go through the complicated process of creating custom questions with advanced actions and variables?

I really think this post could be useful: Tips - Learning Interactions - Captivate blog

Sorry, forgot your second question. You'll need to create a custom question, which means advanced/shared actions. These were created with the former radiobutton and checkbox widget, but the work flow can also be used with their cousins, the learning interactions. Moreover, you can now control the display, you can reset the interaction by assigning the value of an empty variable to the associated variable(s):

With shared actions everything becomes easier. Busy with an ebook about them.

You have to create the variables, just typing them in in the interaction does not create them.
