Millionaire game (download from e-learning brothers) does not preview properly

Hi,

I downloaded the Millionaire game from e-learning brothers via the 'assets' link in Captivate.

The original previews in the browser fine but when I move it into my project, it skips from the initial game start page to the results page. I have tried to make sure that all the variables match the original but I have noticed that the option under advanced actions 'game options' is now missing, so I have had to alter this to 'Go Next' instead.

Any ideas for how to get it back? Or otherwise, how to make the game preview properly?

Thanks for your help!

Ruth

Did you copy and paste the slides from the game example into your CPTX project, or did you copy the project slides into the game example?

If you did the former, then your issue may be that doing so causes Captivate to rename all the slide objects in the copied and pasted slides, which will usually break any advanced actions that specifically refer to a given object.  Those actions will then be unable to locate the object they should be referencing and will instead default to an action such as Continue.

I would have thought that Elearning Brothers would have something on their website or some documentation that accompanies their products to inform you about this issue.  Did you get no documentation at all with the interaction?  Have you investigated this issue with Elearning Brothers support people?

Just to make sure, have you applied the hotfix to Captivate 9 that fixes some of the issues with Advanced Actions? We haven't had problems with copy/pasting game templates over to another project unless that hotfix wasn't applied, so you might be having problems that way. Adobe is supposed to be working on patching that into Captivate 9 automatically, but until then you can install the fix manually (link below).

Hot fix | Adobe Captivate 9 issues

You can also contact eLearning Brothers support at support@elearningbrothers.com if you're still running into problems after that.

Thanks for this Rod. Unfortunately there was no documentation with the game. In fact, I even saw a tutorial by elearning brothers that told me to copy and paste the game into the project, and that this would apply the theme to the game automatically!

Thanks Racecar0, I will try the hotfix.

Best,

Ruth

Oh dear- more issues!

I downloaded the game again and wrote out all of the questions again- this time it worked fine. However, when I came back to it this morning, the multiple choice answers wouldn't appear when I ran it in the browser!

I then downloaded the hotfix and followed all the instructions- I don't notice any improvement, only now I am unable to get into the 'assets' as it asks me for login details (it didn't do this before). I even changed the password but it won't accept the new one.

Also the original of the game seems to have disappeared so I am unable to compare my version with the original download to see if any options are different.

Thanks for your help and patience,

Ruth
