Question

MP4 video in Captivate 9 (1080X1920) is playing outside the project size with scrollbars

I am new to using Captivate 9 and not particularly well versed in video technology settings.  When I insert a professionally produced HD video (about 5 minutes in length) into my project as a multi-slide video I have been unable to figure out the settings that will keep the video within a particular size.

The video will be the only item in the project other than perhaps an acknowledgement quiz question to capture completion data in a scorm package.

If anyone can point me in the right direction with an answer or a resource to get a better handle on CP4 or videos  I would most appreciate it!

Thanks Traci

You could use the Adobe Media Encoder packed with Captivate to reduce the size of the video to the wanted resolution. Beware: for mp4 you need to choose the H264 codec in AME.

Thanks Lilybiri,

I will see if this fixes the issue.  I had the project size sent to 1080, but when packed it still fell outside.  When I tested the video loaded directly as a video in my LMS and also on Brainshark (an online sales presentation service) both successfully rendered the video to the correct size without decreasing the quality of the video.  I was surprised Captivate didn't do that also.

Thanks Traci

Are you using a playbar in the Captivate file? If yes, that will reduce the available space by about 20px vertically. If you use a TOC in separate mode, that will reduce the horizontal available space by 250px. You have to take into account all those extra space when choosing the proper resolution for your course. When you just play the video without all those functionalities that is not the case.
