Question

recovering a corrupted captivate file (no back-up & already cleared cache)..

Hi ,

I am a new captivate user (using captivate 2017) and I've been working on a project for about 2.5 weeks and last night as I saved the file I got a message saying the file is corrupt and it won't open. I closed captivate and reopened it, cleared cache and tried opening the project again and I got the same message. (I also did not activate the back-up option, so I don't have a back-up file).

I searched online for help and started reading the discussions in the forums to see if there is anyway I could recover the project but from what I've read so far, it seems once you've cleared your cache, and you don't have a back-up, then your project is pretty much gone forever. Is this accurate? Is there still a way I can recover this project. My deadline is fast approaching so any advice or help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Are you using Windows or a Mac?

I'm using Windows.

I can't remember all Windows features, but I seem to remember that there was a 'previous version' facility in Windows.

Use Windows Explorer to view the folder and file name.

Right click the filename.

Choose Properties

Choose Previous Versions

...and hope there is something there.

Good Luck

Peter.
