Question

Search for text in a project?

I have read that it is possible to activate the SEARCH function for the TOC. Is it possible to allow the user to search for a text within the whole project (likly made of powerpoint-like slides?)

Thanks

This is what the Help tells about Search functionality turned on in TOC:

Adobe Captivate searches for content both within the slides and their labels. Question slides are searched only if you enable the option in the settings panel.

    1. Select Project > Table Of Contents.
    2. Click Settings. The TOC Settings dialog box appears.
    3. Select Show Search to provide users with a search field in the TOC.
    4. Select Search Quiz to allow users to search content in question slides.

However I'm not sure about imported PPT-slides, because those slides are converted in movie-slides, don't keep text as separate objects. I never use the PPT import work flow, reason why I am suspicious about Search in those slides.

Premise: I am evaluating whether buying the software depending on this feature. As of now I still do not have my hands on it.

Manually creating text slides from PPT could be feasible as well, provided it is possible to use the search feature.

Mv doubt originates from the fact that elsewhere I had read that the SHOW SEARCH searches only within the titles in the TOC, but it seems this is not true.

    Thank you

PPT creates presentations, Captivate is a full-blown eLearning authoring tool which are totally different 'beasts'. If you only want to convert a PPT you would better use a PPT plugin (like Adobe Presenter, Articulate Presenter, iSpring only available for WIndows because Apple doesn't allow plugins). If you want full functionality of Captivate (like responsive projects) better approach is to use the assets from PPT and recreate in Captivate. You'll end up with much better courses.
