Text-To-Speech

Hello!

First, thank you in advance for your help. Please understand I've just started using/learning Captivate. So far so good....i am not intimidated by it...yet. I want to know more about the text-to-speech function. When I use it the play back is not smooth. It sound more like a computer speaking than a natural human voice. How do I get a more natural speaking voice when using this function? Is there something in Captivate I need to calibrate, tweek, add, or adjust? Is there an add-on? Being able to use the text-to-speech function with natural sounding flow will put me closer to being a "super hero" at work!  🙂

Again, thank you in advance!

This video is outstanding. It, like all of Paul’s videos, really helped our Captivate team get rolling as we began transitioning our content to Captivate.

Make sure you install the Captivate voices if you haven't yet:

How to add and convert slide notes using Adobe Captivate

You can modify the tone of the voices with Neospeech's VTML code:

https://media.neospeech.com/document/vt_eng-Engine-VTML-v3.9.0-3.pdf

You can also edit a Neospeech voice's dictionary to pronounce complex words better.

C:\Program Files\Adobe Captivate Voices 2017 x64\VT/[DESIRED VOICE]\M16\bin\

On a Mac, it would be in the Applications folder.

Also, I find that the commercial version of Neospeech voices are higher quality than the "free" ones that come with Captivate.

TTS will never replace an engaging human voice but there has been progress over the years. Which voices did you use?
