text to speech - pause or break without downward inflection

Is there a way to create a pause without a downward inflection in the NeoSpeech text to voice.

I am using the VTML tags and working straight from the Captivate Voices / VT / bin / bin / VTEditor_Eng.exe application.

It seems like the break tag is intended for this but break = 0 and break = 1 doesn't make any difference in my experience.

Pauses, even for 100 ms, mostly, though not always, causes the downward inflection.

Any suggestions would be appreciated so much!
