TOC not taking user to indicated page

HELP!!! I am trying to publish my course and am in the testing phase. My course is 8o slides. I have 14 pages identified in my TOC. The first 10 work great, the last 4 don't work at all. When I click them, the course just advances 1 slide.

Am I doing something wrong? I have turned TOC off, turned it back on, reset it, re-checked all of the slides I want and have tested and re-tested and nothing...nada...zilch!

I am getting frustrated!

Any advice out there?

Hi Rod Ward,

My quiz is set to:  Answer All - user must answer every question to continue.

This is a requirement for these 6 courses.  The 5 others have it as well and I have working TOC'S.

Is your recommendation to change it to optional, republish, and test again? Then change it back to answer all, publish and test again?

Change it to Optional, republish and test whether the non-functional items in the TOC then work.

Change it back to Answer All republish and test whether the items are again non-functional.

My suspicion is that this setting is causing the issue because setting the quiz this way means that the learner will NOT be allowed to progress past the very first scored interaction in the quiz without having 'answered' that interaction.  So if your learner tried to use the TOC to jump to a slide beyond that first interaction, then the Answer All setting would block it.

You can still ensure that the learner DOES the quiz without using the Answer All setting. It's often more trouble than its worth (as you may be finding out).

You Likely have added and moved slides since creating the Table of Contents, and it's gotten out of sync with the course slides.

You should be able to resolve this by refreshing the ToC.

TOC Refresh 2015-09-15_14-48-19

In the image above, you would click the icon with the 3/4 arrow above the settings button.

You will need to uncheck any slides that were hidden from the Table of Contents before the refresh, and rename any ToC entries that shouldn't match the name of their slides.

@BDuckWorks: only part of the slides have been made visible, which means that the TOC was edited. If you refresh the TOC all slides will be in the TOC. OP stated that only 14 out of 80 slides are visible in the TOC.

It still has to be confirmed, but both Rod and myself suspect the Required option set to Answer All is preventing navigation to the later slides.

I'm wondering: do you not see all the answers in the thread? Just out of curiosity

@Lilybiri,

Your comment: " only part of the slides have been made visible, which means that the TOC was edited. If you refresh the TOC all slides will be in the TOC. OP stated that only 14 out of 80 slides are visible in the TOC."

This is why I stated:

"You will need to uncheck any slides that were hidden from the Table of Contents before the refresh, and rename any ToC entries that shouldn't match the name of their slides."

But to answer your question, No I didn't see all answers to the thread.

Apparently the response after the first response are hidden by default!

I would suggest that is a setting that needs to be changed!

I also don't like that the paragraph spacing in the editor doesn't match the paragraph spacing in the published entry.

Do you have a quiz in the course? If yes, what is the Required option set to?

I do have a quiz.  Settings are set as follows:

Incomplete-Complete

Quiz is passed

Percentage = 80%

Is that what you are looking for?

This is 1 of 6 courses in a series.  The other TOC'S function just fine,  same settings.

Lieve was asking what setting you have specified under Quiz > Settings > Required dropdown menu.  Some of those settings can affect project playback and prevent progress.  Try setting it to Optional.
