Two Captivate Forums - Are they connected?

HI asked this question in the "Jive" forum and received no response from Adobe so I thought I would ask it here as well.

I was wondering if anyone from Adobe could chime in. What is the difference between the two Captivate Forums, this one that you can access from within Captivate, and the original one that still exists. I've been using both and had some strange results.

This one appears to have questions or posts that doesn't appear in the original one and vice-versa. Is that by design or just a bug?
This one appears to have a different point based system but it doesn't work as promoted, at least in my case anyways.
Point based scores are slightly different in each forum, is that by design or a bug?
Finally, is Adobe planning on phasing out the old one or keep both going?

I would have asked these questions privately, but I couldn't find  an e-mail link to ask anyone.

The problem each of these communities are solving is quite different.

Jive is an Adobe wide online platform where users across all Adobe Products can report issues they encounter with product, where our community experts answer these queries.

Whereas eLearning Community is focused just on Captivate. This platform not just provides you to report issues but also to contribute at different levels. All the questions reported in eLearning Community is sync with Adobe Captivate Forum.

Trial / Novice Users – While talking to Captivate trial users or users who are getting started, we found that they are struggling to get the right & relevant information to make a right decision in short period of time. Also as the content is spread across different places, it’s difficult for new users to find the relevant information. This platform provides a centralized place for all the information, users are looking for.

Community Leaders/Intermediate users – Community leaders have great experience to share their knowledge. eLearning community provides the platform for them to share their knowledge by writing blog posts, tips & tricks, videos to troubleshoot issues & to showcase their work. This would greatly makes an impact to all users who are looking to learn, share & grow.

We have just launched this community, there is lot more features planned to build over this. Overall this helps to engage with experts, browse blogs, write testimonials all in single place https://elearning.adobe.com

We have also integrated this eLearning Community right inside the product. So new users or trials users don’t need to worry about finding the links for different categories (like Adobe forum link, CP blogs, Videos etc.. ). If they have any query to ask or to browse the content, they can do it within Captivate product. They also get the notification inside captivate product for the questions asked or when other users perform an action on his/her posts!

On points – There are quite an exciting incentives for all users who contribute to eLearning community. Please check the activities which would leads points & levels - https://elearning.stage.adobe.com/levels/

Also i already see you have shared your work on showcase last week. This has been viewed more than 100 times now with few comments.

To my knowledge, both places will continue to exist. The Jive forums are a very vibrant community with a long history and some additional benefits that haven't been fully realized on the Adobe eLearning Community.

That said there are some really great benefits to the Adobe eLearning Community. One of the main ones is the ability to post your own article. I've used this feature to share my content to Adobe Captivate users and the feedback has been tremendous.

Another great benefit is that the points in the Adobe eLearning Community can contribute to some really tangible perks you can take advantage of (free stuff). Check out my blog post on this here:

    Hey Paul,

Quick question. How does delivery of the *perks* work, Does Adobe  send you  an e-mail, do they just automatically credit your Creative Cloud account. I just reached a milestone point wise but haven't heard anything and I'm not sure who to contact about it?

    Cheers

    Hi BDuckworks,

    Now that makes sense!

A soft launch beta, with full roll-out and hopefully,  community communication, after analysis. I really like the new offerings as well, I think it bodes well for the Captivate community on the whole. I was just looking for some clarification around purpose and how it will affect/integrate with the current community.

    Thanks for the detailed analysis.

    Cheers

After further review, there is clear attribution that the forums are powered by Jive, and I found part of the eLearning Community shows evidence that a WordPress site is hosting the new content.

I would say that there are some sort of scripts running to capture new content from Jive and migrate it to the WordPress site.

Additionally, I was able to find evidence of RSS Feeds, but they don't appear to be enabled to the level that JIVE is.  For now, let's hope they keep things in sync!

I've responded in the forum interface, we'll see when it appears here:

    https://forums.adobe.com/message/9207355#9207355

Also, there doesn't appear to be a messaging feature where you can respond privately to posts. this will be missed!

    Hi Lilybiri,

This is part of my confusion. I like contributing and learning from these forums so  I'm just looking for some clarification around the differences and linkages of both forums. For example I asked this question in the other forum, it shows up here, but not there. Why, is that an Adobe protocol based on "rules" ?  From your answers yesterday I understood that Adobe Staff moderated the other forum while this one was moderated by a number of high skilled contributors

I'm just looking for some definitive clarification. For example "yes the other forum will be our showcase, blog, video channel while this one will be main Q and A forum, Yes they are linked, any points you receive in either will be for displayed in both forums. You can access the other Forum from Captivate while you need to come to this one via the internet"

Or something like that. I suspect much more was said about this at Adobe Conferences but unfortunately I didn't attend.

    Cheers

    Steve

I cannot help you more. Since questions are always transferred here, I suspect the scoring for those is the same. Or perhaps the score in the learning portal started when it was opened, whereas here in the Jive forums it starts when you got on this forum? It doesn't matter that much, those stupid scores. Yesterday I heard that about 250,000 questions on the forums never got marked 'answered', although a lot of them are answered. Moderating means accepting/rejecting answers, trying to track spammers, abuse etc... Normally I should also have to add tags, correct question titles (which I sometimes do), delete duplicates ... but my priority is trying to answer as much as possible.

Nothing more was told at the Learning Summit, not the clarification you want. I was invited by Adobe, to .... answer questions

As I wrote before: these normal forums have a Lounge, they have links to the Experts, they have links to tutorials as well. It is not just Q&A. Captivate is only one of the applications, and not a big one in Adobe's eyes, that is all.

Steve, what is happening? I answered this question yesterday, from the 'old' forum. AFAIK all 'questions' from the learning portal end up here in the 'normal' forums. I prefer that adjective, because there is a lot of traffic here, not only from the learning portal. Why would Adobe phase this out? Captivate already tried once to start a separate GetSatisfaction forum, and it died because most users continue to come to the general, normal forums.
