Use a Shape as a button? Or a "interactions" button?

Am I splitting hairs?

Is it wiser to draw a rectangular shape and use it as a button?

or

Is it wiser to go to the Interactions menu and choose "button"?

Is there a difference?

    Differences are:

    • The three types of 'legacy buttons (system, transparent, image) can not be used on master slides, on quiz slides, on score slide; the shape button (what you call a shape used as button) can be used on those slides.
    • The 'old' buttons cannot be timed for the rest of the project, so that they appear on all slides (until you hide them),  this can be done with the shape button.
    • You have in CP8 besides the normal state, also rollover and down states. Styling those states (Object Style Manager) is very limited for the old type of buttons except for image buttons. But image button states have to be created with a graphical application and you need three images ending on _up, _over and _down; shape buttons can be styled totally in Captivate: you can fill them with a solid color, with a gradient, with a texture or with an image; stroke color is also possible, shadow...
    • Text on the buttons: will be the same for all state with old system and transparent buttons, can be different with shape buttons
    • Shape buttons can have any form; system and transparent buttons are always rectangles or rounded rectangles; with image buttons the images will define the form, but you cannot change it in Captivate and the text has to be in the image, cannot be added later.
