Virtual Desktop capture

I may shortly be forced into a virtual environment. I conduct user testing, and need to know if Captivate works well in a virtual environment before I purchase. Does anyone have any experience with this? If Captivate might not be the best option, does anyone know of something that might be a better option? I need to figure something out soon, since this will really hinder my testing environment. Thanks in advance!

Captivate does NOT like virtual environments.  You WILL encounter problems and Captivate may not work at all in that type of environment.  Captivate requires the software to be installed to the main system drive of your computer (usually the C drive) and the user should ideally have full Administrator privileges.  To avoid issues with various functions (especially screen capturing) in Captivate you need to set it to launch with Run As Administrator privileges and the default Project Cache and Project Publish folder locations should be on the local hard drive, NOT on a virtual drive or LAN.

I suggest you download the Cp9 trial version and get your IT department to try and install it in their virtual environment.  Then test exhaustively.  You'll know very quickly whether or not you'll have issues.

Thank you for the advice. I'll talk with IT and see what we can coordinate.
