CF8 unloading unexpectedly

Newly installed CF8 (XP) unloads almost immediately after it starts running...I can't figure out what has to be set in the Administrator to tell CF8 to stay loaded? Any help welcome.

    Look in logs at coldfusion8\logs to find error. Alternately, try to start in DOS window. CD to coldfusion8\bin. Enter "cfstart". Errors will print to screen.
