The most common rumor, and it is just a guesstimation, is that CF9 will make a late summer 2009 appearance.

If you are going to use version 8, then either volume 2 or 3 of the Web Application Construction Kit. http://www.forta.com/books/

If you are going to use an earlier version, check amazon or ebay for earlier versions of that book.

A lot of the theory will still pertain, but of course, theory is covered in the newer editions. Tags, tag syntax, etc have stayed the same in some cases, and changed significantly in other cases. As with many technology subjects, I would highly recommend obtaining the most recent tome possible regarding the subject matter. Or, better yet, matching the book to the version that is used by your service provider or web host.

Is the intent to learn Cold Fusion?

If so, are you able to program in other languages?
