Please help with CF8 install on Windows 2008 IIS7 - driving me mad

I've tried again and again to install CF8.01 32bit on Windows 2008 with IIS7. (iis6 compatibility is on by the way)

At the end of installation I get error that connectors could not be installed. I'm told that port 51800 may be blocked.

I've added port 51800 via Windows Firewall. Then re-installed but still same problem..

If I run the Web Server Configuration Tool I get error that:

Could not connect to any jRun/Coldfusion servers on host localhost.

And some possible causes.

This is an urgent install and any help is much appreciated.

Thanks, Marc

Is there anything else of note in the install log?  You are possibly just seeing the symptom knock-on effect of some earlier problem.

51800 is not the only port that you may need to open.  I think under the "some possible causes" message you get with the web server connector may list others.  You could also find lists of ports in various blogs and forums with a search.

But what maybe easier.  Is to turn off the firewall completely during the install process.  Just disconnect the server from the internet before turning off the fire wall and turn it back on before reconnecting to the internet.

    Ian,

The first attempt at install was with Windows Firewall off. We turned it on to add the 51800 and 51020 ports.

Also note that our first install attempt was with CF8.01 64bit which resulted in an alert about IIS7 and 32bit.

Subsequently we uninstalled and tried to install the CF8.01 32bit in standard server mode. (maybe that initial run of CF8.01 64bit has left some problems behind?)

Any other suggestions or walkthroughs appreciated anyone.

    Thanks

Also, forgot to mention that there is an external cisco firewall for the server but I wasn't sure its settings would have any affect on the ports needed for the CF8.01 install.
