Windows7 + Dreamweaver CS4 + ColdFusion version ___?

*sigh* New computer with Windows 7. New CS4 Suite, including Dreamweaver. Many sites to maintain with ColdFusion.

ColdFusion 9 says it doesn't like Windows 7.

Advice? ColdFusion 8?  Is that kosher w/Windows 7 and CS4?

Oh, and I plan those pages locally then load to our hosting/server remotely. Want the local CF functionality and that nifty 'live view' feature to work... Locally before I post. I am not super sophisticaed with CF (could you tell? ) but I checked and our hosting provider uses CF8.

MANY THANKS OH WISE ONES!!!

JL

    CF9 works fine on WIndows7.

What do you mean "ColdFusion 9 says it doesn't like Window".  Because it won't actually be saying that, it'll be giving you an error or behaving in some other way you were not expecting.  Can you elaborate?  When raising issues here, don't describe kinda what the error is like, just tell us what the exact error message is ;-)

But that said, if you're developing sites which will be running on CF8, you really should be running CF8 in your dev environment too.

Many thanks for your assistance and all apologies for the confusion.

On the Adobe web site, it states that "Windows 7 is not supported" under the ColdFusion 9 page. I took that to mean it was not compatible or at least not reviewed.

I have not installed any version of CF yet to avoid such problems I was trying to be pro-active and asking for assistance to AVOID mistakes rather than whimsically try things and then run to the forum and ask for assistance. All apologies for being pro-active.

As for CF 8, most searches on the site left limited information as the Adobe site tends to nest older versions of applications in favor of promoting new versions. I could not find any information on CF 8 and Windows 7.

    So...

Does CF 8 (which, yes, I would prefer to run as it's compatible with my hosting server) also run well on Windows 7? This too is a pro-active question.

    Many thanks.

    Regards,

Fair enough re just asking for clarification of what the Adobe site says ;-)

I dunno if it's supported on WIndows 7 - seemingly not - but CF8 runs on Windows 7.  I use it every day on my Win7 Starter Edition netbook.  If it runs on the Starter Ed., it should run on the more fully-featured version.

To be honest, I would not worry whether Adobe claims to support CF on the OS I'm running in dev.  I would only care about that sort of thing on client-facing machines.

I reckon you should jump in with CF8.
