ADE will not start, keeps crashing

Hello everybody,

I bought an e-book so I downloaded ADE and tried to open the .acsm file; but ADE doesn't open up, it immediately crashes. I tried opening the opening the e-books from adobe.com, but the same issue appears. I have Windows XP and have .Net installed.
