digital editions

My nook does not appear on digital editions and when I do transfer a book to my nook it tells me the book has been returned and does not let me read it.  I know that the books have not been returned so there is a problem somewhere else.  I have contacted nook and they tried to help me but after over an hour they said it must be a problem with digital editions,
