Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem: E_ACT_NOT_READY??

Why do I get the following error when I try to download an e-book for an online class..."Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem: E_ACT_NOT_READY"??

I have a Mac and had no problems downloading Adobe Digital Editions 4.0 but can't open any of the books I need for class because of the error above...help!

    Rick, found a solution! 

    This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).

    Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.
