Every time I open ADE it says "Adobe Digital Editions 4.0 has stopped working"

I am running ADE 4.0.3 on Windows 7. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and downloading an older version, but nothing works.

I am having the exact same problem. I am running Windows 8.  Mine crashes every time I try to open a file (in my case, an epub file that I have uploaded to the library).

The problem still has not been resolved. Could someone please give me other suggestions? I am a book reviewer, and I cannot review books unless I can use ADE.

Some of the crashes have been fixed in this release.
