How can I delete an ID/Account?

I have a laptop + a Glo Kobo reader and now wish to add an additional Kobo touch.

My wife has a ID as well on this laptop and this seems to interfere with the ability of adding the Kobo touch.  She does not use her account so it is supernumerary

How can I delete the now defunct  ID/account?
