Query regarding "Error: E_AUTH_USER_ALREADY_REGISTERED"

I reformatted my hard drive and had to reload my Sony Ereader to my computer. I had previously created an Adobe Account (ID) and was able to communicate with my Ereader. When I tried to reload my Sony Ereader and authorise my "Reader for PC". I got the following message "Error: E_AUTH_USER_ALREADY_REGISTERED". If I open up "Reader for PC" and use the "ctrl-shift-D" function on the open page, will this enable me to authorise "Reader for PC" using my original Adobe I.D?

    You use Edit/Preferences/Deauthorize on Sony Reader for PC.

    This does the same job as ctrl-shift-D using Adobe Digital Editions.  (or at least, almost the same)

    And then yes, you should be able to register using your original ID.
