Can't get Illustrator to Install on Mac Catalina; hangs at 9.8%

I updated my Macbook pro to Catalina. I have beeing trying to download the 64 bit version of illustrator on my Macbook. I had Illustrator CS5 on the computer but when I downloaded Catalina it no longer worked. So I opted for getting the new illustrator since I needed to upgrade anyway. I've done the link download and the direct download.

The link download hangs at 9.8% with no error message - it just doesnt progress. The direct download shows error 1 which adobe forum says to download the newest version of installer? Not sure what they mean by that.

Has anyone been able to download illustrator or photoshop to their Macbook after updating to Catalina? Does anyone know how to fix this issue? I've been on the phone with Apple all day, we've done reboots and tried installing in several diferent methods including safe mode. I am in dire need of using this program for work.

I appreciate any help I can get, thank you!

Creating Spaces, the installation of Illustrator includes the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application.  I would recommend completing the solutions listed in https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-missing-damaged.html and resolving any errors with the installation of the Creative Cloud desktop app. ^Jeff

Creating spaces are you encountering Error Code 1 while installing the Creative Cloud desktop app?  If so, then see https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-missing-damaged.html for steps you can take to resolve the error.

Hey Jeff,

I was only trying to download illustrator alone first. I tried downloading Creative Cloud using the link you gave me but it also got stuck, hanging at 21.5%

Any other ideas or suggestions?

I've called apple but they say its a developer issue and there doesnt seem to be anyone at Adobe I can talk to.
