Lightroom 6 has become Lightroom Classic and Lightroom is now known as the cloud version. Both versions are installed using the creative cloud application manager which must be downloaded and installed on your computer. Do you have that installed? The current version of Lightroom Classic is 9.1.

If you don't have the application manager installed, here is a link to where you can download it:

https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/desktop-app.html

How long have you been using Lightroom 6.1? That version has never been part of the subscription program. That was the last standalone (perpetual licensed) version of Lightroom that is no longer supported or updated by Adobe. And the version you have installed received 13 updates before Adobe retired it. The final update was Lightroom 6.14.

You aren't going to be able to actually update Lightroom 6 because it isn't there. It isn't available and isn't supported anymore. You should be able to see Lightroom Classic. That would be the version that you would want to install. If you don't see it then perhaps you need to update the application manager.
