Weird CC update 4.8.0.421

Hi all,

Adobe CC auto-updated to 4.8.0.421 on Windows 10 this morning when I was away from my computer, and when I came back File Explorer was open at the following address: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Creative Cloud\ACC

Also, the 'Hide protected operating system files' option for Folder Options was turned off meaning I could see hidden files like 'Desktop.ini'.

Suspicious, I checked my computer with a virus scan and a MalwareBytes scan which found nothing. So, I was wondering if the update just went a little weird and did these things in the process and if anyone else has had this happen?

Thanks.

Ok, thanks for the update, Williamg51207989.  I would recommend running anti-virus and anti-malware software on the computer to verify there are no intrusions.

Please also be aware that Creative Cloud memberships are designed for individual users and are not designed to be shared with other people.  You can find more information at:

Okay.

Please note that I had already ran anti-virus and anti-malware scans which found nothing, hence why I believe it was the update feature being weird.

I have done a system restore to a computer version from last week, in hopes that I would be able to replicate the update happenings and see it as it reverts the app to how it was before the update but then the CC desktop app simply woudn't load at all - it was just a white box where the app should be loaded. After a while, the app prompted a repair which I did. It repaired and updated without the weirdness.

I think it was just an odd bug that caused this to happen originally as it coincided with the update and opened at the programme file directory for CC.

I have also changed the preferences for the app so that 'Always keep Creative Cloud desktop up to date' is off. That way, I can be prompted to update it rather than have it auto-update, just in case something similar happens in the future I'll be there to see it.

Did this happen in a setting where others have access to your machine?

No, remote access is disabled, and no-one else around would have used it.

My dad who shares my CC account says that his didn't do this, so I'm a little concerned.
