Easier way to globally update/modify cross-references?

I have a set of documents that are named ABCxxx. I need to create another set of manuals from this set and name them DEFxxx. Is there a way to easily change all interal cross-references to DEFxxx? There are literally hundreds of cross-refernces and I'm hoping Adobe has provided a way to do this. I'm using FM v7.0 on Windows XP. Thanks in advance for any insights.

    The best way to solve a problem is to avoid it. Why not leave the names as they are?

    You could try the dialog that pops up when you select Edit > Update References and select the new files.

    If that does not work, some people save all documents to MIF and use a text editor to search and replace the file names accordingly.

    I am assuming that your ABCxxx files and book are in the same relative location to each other. If so, then copy the book and its files into the location for the DEFxxx set. Open the book file and save it with the new name; FrameMaker changes the names of the generated files automatically, which at this point to not exist, but you can deal with that later.

    IN THE NEW BOOK FILE, select a file name in the book, wait a second or two, and select the name again. FrameMaker makes the name of the file editable. Type the NEW name for the file. FrameMaker will warn you that it will change all the cross-references accordingly. Click OK or Yes and FrameMaker will update all the cross-references that use the old file name; this may take several seconds, especially if you are working over a network. I find it quicker to open ALL the files in the new book first, then select each file name IN THE BOOK FILE and change its name; the updating of cross-references will be very quick. Then save and close all the files in the book. Job done.
