AI file turned into 0 Data (File is locked or in use)

One of my Ai file that I've been working on suddenly turned into 0 Data with a "file is locked or in use" prompt when I try to open the file. I think it's also caused by my usb that's been acting up lately not connecting properly etc. I wonder if there's any way to recover my work somehow? 😞

I'm mainly operating on my school's mac computer.
