Bending Tool can't be closed

Hi @ all,

I've got a problem that I couldn't fix by closing and restarting Illustrator.

I'm using CC Illustrator 2023 on a Macbook Air 2020 and wanted to try the bending-tool on my work. Now I can't close it by any chance. Unfortunately I saved the file when the beding tool was in use and now it won't disappear now matter what I do. Of course I tried clicking on the little cross on the symbol at the top left corner but nothing happens.

I restartet Illustrator and my Macbook but everytime I open the file it is still there. Never happened before, I was always able to close the tool by clicking on the little cross symbol.

I'm quite new to using Illustrator so maybe there's a simple solution for this. Can anybody help me with that?
