Can't click out of Illustrator or Photoshop

Ever since I updated my macOS and Adobe programs, I can't click outside the Adobe application windows to quickly jump to another app (including between Adobe apps, but also to any other apps like Finder, Safari, Mail, etc.) So just as one example, while in Illustrator, I can't click in the highlighted red sections below to quickly jump to the app behind it (in this case, my desktop):This is absolutely infuriating. And yes, I know I can command+tab between apps, but most of the time that's not my workflow, and it's never been an issue until now.

I'm on a 2018 MacBook Pro with everything up-to-date. (macOS Sonoma 14.0, Illustrator 27.9, Photoshop 25.0)

Hi “WWJBD”, I have the same problem, in fact I also have others and it seems that they all have to do with the palettes and the management of the personal work area. At the moment I have found a little trick that, at least for me, works: I "unhooked" the instrument palettes, which were previously "attached" magnetically.

The areas you highlighted are right under the tool palettes, and the pointer when you direct it into those empty spaces behaves as if there was still a palette (note that it changes the shape of the pointer).

In addition to not being able to select the desktop background (and therefore returning to the finder) there is also another unpleasant effect: in the portions of the screen under the palettes it is not possible to activate the hand tool with the classic space bar to move from one area of the work area to another.

I hope you understand what I mean from the desktop recording

Thanks, I totally understand! Yea it's really aggravating. But you're right, it's almost as if the program thinks the palettes are longer than they actually are, so the space beneath them doesn't function properly. Very strange, I hope they can address this quickly.

Adobe apps are not ready yet for Sonoma. Before updating your system, always wait for all apps, plugins, drivers to be officially ready.
