Clipping mask releasing issue

My clipping masks release when I open a 2021 version in 2022 version. How do I fix this?

You could try and reset the preferences. This will erase your settings.

If you do it via renaming the preferences folder, you can revert it if it doesn't help.

Sorry to hear about this experience. I hope the suggestions shared by Monika helped resolve the problem. If not, kindly try running Illustrator under the root user account (macOS) or a different administrator account (Windows) and check if it helps.
