Disproportionately Scaled Images Corrected Using "Placement Options" in Illustrator's Links Palette?
When my students disproportionately scale a placed image in Illustrator, I see mismatching % values in the Links Palette. I've found that the image can be returned to its correct proportions using the "Placement Options" in the Links Palette and then chosing Preserve "Proportions (Fill)." I can see the image is in correct proportions by overlaying it on a correctly placed and sized identical image, however the Scale % values in the Links Palette do not match. For example: If I place an image at 100%, the Scale values are 100% x 100%. If I duplicate that image layer and then disproportionately scale the image on the new layer, let's say to 100% x 94%, it is clearly disproportional. Then when select the image and I use the "Placement Options" in the Links Palette, chosing Preserve "Proportions (Fill), I can clearly see it has returned to the correct proportions by making it semi-transparent and seeing that it is perfectly aligned with the correctly scaled image on the layer below it. However, the Scale values on the corrected image still apprear incorrect a 100% x 94%. How can I get the numbers to reflect the correction? Or... is there a better way to return an image to correct proportions in Illustrator? There's a super easy way in InDesign; why not in Illustrator? Thank you in advance for your help with this!
